My Beloved Bullet

Chesapeake Retriever (Chessie) Rescue of Wisconsin (WI) Posted on December 2, 2010 by Pam CDecember 2, 2010
On January 14, 2008, my beloved Bullet, my little dog, left me.
For 14 and half years this faithful, loving dog shared my life, my home, my car.
Bullet never met anyone he didn’t like. People, other dogs, cats….they were all just someone or something else to play with. He loved to retrieve. Balls, chew toys, birds, or anything else you could throw for him. And he swam like a fish!
Always on time, Bullet would be waiting at the front gate, tail waving fiercely, when I arrived home from work, to give his big dog “smile,” which, if you didn’t know him, could scare the bejabbers out of you, and then grab the nearest shoe or boot, to fetch for you.
At the end, Bullet was slowed by advancing arthritis, and finally, prostate cancer. He stoically carried on, till I could see there was no joy left in his life, and he was in pain. I took him to the vet’s-a place that he loved to go, even with all the procedures he endured there. He struggled up to his feet and licked the
vet’s face. Then I held my beloved Bullet in my arms, while Doctor Cant put an end to his suffering.
Though I had to give my beloved dog’s life over to death, I will not part from him.
His ashes will be interred with mine, when I too, pass through that door we all must go through.
Bullet and I will be together for eternity.
My dog never left my side in life. I will not leave him, even in death.
Soon, beloved little dog, soon we will sleep together for eternity.
