Although Ironman is over and Pam completed it in 14hrs 32min, we are still working on raising funds for the Chessie Rescue of WI. Please continue to contribute and see if we can reach our Ironman goal by the end of 2011. Our goal is $1,406.00 as an Ironman is 140.6 miles total (2.4 mi swim, 112 mi bike and 26.2 mile run).
Please consider helping us reach our goal of $1,406 by making an “Ironman for Chessies” contribution through the CRROW PayPal account. If you wish to send a check, you can send it to

One of our volunteers and foster moms, Pam, will be competing in the 2011 Ironman Wisconsin in Madison on September 11th. As part of her quest to become an Ironman, Pam is encouraging friends, relatives and the public to show their support by helping the Chesapeake Retriever Rescue of WI. To read more about Pam’s Ironman journey and her friends visit her Ironman blog.
Many of you know Pam through her very special foster Chessie, Lula. Lula was Pam’s first foster with the Chessie Rescue and now her permanent foster. Through Lula and the numerous other Chessies – puppies and adults – that have made their way through Pam’s home and heart, she wants to help develop a secure financial foundation for the Chesapeake Retriever Rescue of WI.
So far in 2011 (through April 30,2011), CRROW has:

Left to Right - Volunteers, Kelly and Pam with fosters, Hershey and Lula. Hershey and Lula live with Pam and Kelly lives near by with her adopted Chessie, Hunter (one of Pam's former fosters). Kelly and Hunter help Pam with care and training of her foster dogs. Especially now with Pam's Ironman training and work schedule.

Stella came to us in Jan, an 18 mos old stray from northern WI. She came with a "happy tail" (no hair on the tip that would spray blood everywhere when she wagged her tail), had to be spayed and had a skin infection.

Attends several dog expos and fairs around Wisconsin including (Green Bay, Milwaukee, Mounds and Madison)
- Spends 3 hours a Saturday 2 to 3 times per month at Pet Supplies Plus in Appleton
- Attends Chessie Weekend to socialize dogs and raise awareness and funds
- Fundraisers to date have included a Schwans fundraiser, our jewelry fundraiser, “Spin the Wheel” at all expos and Lula’s blog, notecards and soon to be published book.

A full Ironman is 140.6 miles (2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike and a 26.2 mile run) in addition to the full Ironman, Pam is doing a Half Ironman on July 17th, 2011 in Door County WI. So Pam has not only set lofty goals for herself athletically, she is setting two fundraising goals for the Ironman for Chessies.
- $1,406 for the Ironman WI on Sept. 11th, 2011
- $703 for the Door County Half Ironman on July 17th, 2011
Now it would be great if we could raise $703 by July 17th and then reach the $1,406 goal by September 11th. HOWEVER, it would be even better if we could raise the total of both! $2,109 before September 11th!!!! That amount of money would help cover a portion of the medical expenses CRROW has incurred so far this year (Jan-Apr 2011) including spay/neuter, shots and the ongoing medical for the senior/permanent fosters that are not adoptable due to age or illness or both.
Pam is swimming, biking and running in support of these big, beautiful brown dogs, please consider showing your support of Pam’s training and the efforts made to find all of these rescued Chessies new homes.
