In Memory of Lula R. Chessie

As many of you may know, Chessie Rescue of WI lost one of our most renowned Chessies, Lula on March 29, 2013. Lula came to CRROW in November of 2009 from a shelter in northern Minnesota. Lula had numerous health issues and many were cured. She came to rescue a distant, reclusive dog. After a few months of medications to cure her ailments (Lyme Disease, Giardia and spay incontinence) and medications to ease her pain (hip dysplasia and 2 ruptured ACL’s), Lula learned to love people and her personality emerged. Little did we know this big bear of a dog would become a fun, mischeavous, inspirational member of our rescue and the Chessie world. Lula LOVED to be a Spokesdog for Chessies, Rescues, Special Needs Dogs but mostly she LOVED life being Lula. Despite her ailments, pain and circumstances, Lula always had a smile on her face, in her eyes and a BSLK for anyone willing to stop and lean over to receive one of her Big Sloppy Lula Kisses. We at CRROW, will do our best to continue not only the good work of rescuing Chessies, but also Lula’s legacy of helping dogs with special needs in any way we can. Lula taught us so much about what can be done to help these dogs live a full and happy life.
